Woodland Creatures Ring Gilded Shells at the Foresters Arms
Abbie La Rooy
The creation of community and upholding of localised traditions is facilitated by village life, maintained and developed by populations small enough to preserve the idiosyncrasies of a place. To explore this, I developed a system to rapidly produce new village traditions, documented through a series of performative films. I then embedded myself in the Fairwarp Village community. Following a research-led approach, I hosted a workshop with members of the Fairwarp Women’s Institute. Together, we followed my system to invent a new tradition: Woodland Creatures Ring Gilded Shells at the Foresters Arms, bought to life on 06/05/2019.
