Penny Up the Wall

George Hanlon

A project that was destined from 2 years ago, a observation, a division created by the A206.

A project heavily influenced by my own childhood memory, a game I used to see, from the estate I used to call my home.

I have created a short film based on an acclaimed working class game called ‘Penny Up the Wall’, but is also named other names. The voices discuss memories and experiences of the game, alongside the conflicted conversation of developing cities and the process of gentrification, all illustrated with visuals situated in the South East district of London called Woolwich.
